  • Nebraska (NE)

    The authentic inhabitants were the Sioux, Omaha, Cheyenne, Oto en Pawnee Indians. The summers are extremely warm, the winters extremely cold.

  • Nevada (NV)

    Nevada is mainly known as a desertstate with two important cities: Las Vegas en Reno, where gambling is a second nature. Besides gambling, Las Vegas is also known for it's wedding facilities such as The Little White Chapel.

  • New Hampshire (NH)

    New Hampshire has a coastline of approximately 25 kilometres and is sited at the Atlantic Ocean. A large part of the state exists of hills and mountains. Also the state counts for various woods and numerous lakes. The climate: cold winters and cool summers.

  • New Jersey (NJ)

    The best known city must be Atlantic City. A lot of musicians and poets where born in New Jersey: Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, William Carlos Williams, Allen Ginsberg, etc. New Jersey knows swelterings summers and cold winters with a great possibility of snow.

  • New Mexico (NM)

    The authentic inhabitants are the Navajo and Apache Indians. Most important river is the Rio Grande. The state has lots of treasures of nature, like the limestone (or dripstone) caves near Carlsbad and the white sand of White Sands. Los Alamos was the place where, during World War Two, the nuclear bomb was developed. It still is a research laboratory.

  • New York (NY)

    Over 80% of the New Yorkers lives in one of the six largest cities of the state: New York City, Albany, Utica, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. In this state there are no National Parks, allthough a visit to the Niagara Falls in the North and the Adirondack Mountains in the east is certainly worth the effort.

  • North Carolina (NC)

    North Carolina in summer has a warm, humid climate with temperatures between 35-37 degrees Celsius. In winter there's a possibility of snow but it doesn't get really cold. The humidity is high and every now and then the state is visited by a tornado or hurricane. A famous actor who was born in North Carolina: Ava Gardner.

  • North Dakota (ND)

    The National Park Theodoor Roosevelt and the Sully's Hill National Game Preserve, for tourists really are worth a visit. Other tourist attractions are: Fort Seward Wagon Train in Frontier Village and Pioneer Days in Bonanzaville USA just west of Fargo.

  • Ohio (OH)

    The largest city is Cleveland. Other large cities are Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron, the state capital Columbus and Dayton. Famous people from Ohio: astronaut Neil Armstrong, inventor Thomas Edison, actor Clark Gable, movie director Steven Spielberg, botanic Linda Escobar.

  • Oklahoma (OK)

    There are a lot of interesting State Parks and Nature Preserves to be found here, like Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge and Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (a.o. buffalo's). The history of Oklahoma is told in Indian City near Anadarko and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.

  • Oregon (OR)

    One of the most important sights of the United States is the 600 meter deep Crater Lake. It originates from the vulcano Mount Mazama. Port Orford is a nice place to view pre-historic animals.The National Parks of Mount Renier and Mount Saint Helens are certainely worth a visit. Hikers, don't forget to bring your best hiking boots.

  • Pennsylvania (PA)

    Most important cities are: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton and Allentown. Pennsylvania is also known for the Amish people who still live there. Most famous person to be born here? Grace Kelly, first an actor and later in her life the First Lady of Monaco.

  • Rhode Island (RI)

    A famous tourist attraction is the Newport Jazzfestival. It's the oldest jazzfestival in the world and it brought forth Duke Ellington and Count Basie.

  • South Carolina (SC)

    The climate of South Carolina can be called mild. On the shore one finds a subtropic climate with long, warm,humid summers and short, soft winters. More inland the summers can get quite warm.

  • South Dakota (SD)

    The most famous site in South Dakota has to be Mount Rushmore (Full name: Mount Rushmore National Memorial), a national park situated in Keystone. The faces (from left to right) are George Washington (first President of the United States), Thomas Jefferson (3rd), Theodore Roosevelt (26th) and Abraham Lincoln (16th). It commemorates the birth, growth and development of the United States and covers about 5 km².

  • Tennessee (TN)

    The state capital is Nashville. The largest and most famous city however is Memphis where you also find Graceland, the estate of the late Elvis Presley. Among others, the most famous people from Memphis are: the actor Morgan Freeman, singer Aretha Franklin, actor Kathy Bates, singer Justin Timberlake and actor Shannen Doherty.

  • Texas (TX)

    Texas has many oil wells. Most known cities are the state capital: Austin and the largest city: Houston. Other important large cities are Dallas and San Antonio. Famous people from Texas, among others are : both Presidents Bush (41st en 43rd president), Dwight D. Eisenhower (the 34th president of the United States), Lance Armstrong (7 times winner of the Tour de France)

  • Utah (UT)

    The state capital and largest city is Salt Lake City. In 2002 the city hosted the Olympic Winter games. There's snowfall from October 'till June, so it's an exellent surrounding for all your wintersports. Also nice is that the skitrails are near the cities.

  • Vermont (VT)

    The State Capital is Montpelier. The state mainly exists of green mountains, hills and pastures. The climate has cold winters (with lots of snow) ideally for wintersports, nice summers and a lovely springtime and fall.

  • Virginia (VA)

    Well known is the story of the Indian woman Pocahontas who married colonist John Rolfe. The Shenandoah National Park is lovely to visit. There's a changing climate. warm moist summers, soft winters. Spring and fall are the best seasons. Up in the mountains it can get much colder.

  • Washington (WA)

    The state capital is Olympia and the largest cities are Seattle, Tacoma and Spokane. It has three National Parks. Olympic National Park with it's rainforest is quite unique, but Mount Rainier National Park and North Cascades National Park also are certainly worth a visit.

  • West Virginia (WV)

    The state capital is Charleston. The tourist attractions are Harpers Ferry National Historic Parc; the Monongahela National Forest, a pre-historic monument; the Grave Creek Mound, in Moundsville in the Northern 'panhandle' near the border with Ohio; the Blackwater Falls State Park and the Hawks Nest State Park.

  • Wisconsin (WI)

    The largest city in Wisconsin is Milwaukee. The state capital is Madison. It has pleasant summers with cool nights. In fall the treeleaves change colors beautifully. The winters are cold with lots of snow.

  • Wyoming (WY)

    The state capital is Cheyenne. In the northwest of the state you find the worldfamous Yellowstone National Park, that, amongst others, has lots of geysers. The summers are hot and dry and the winters are very cold. In summer you can take beautiful trips through the National Parks, go camping or spend time on a horseranch. In winter, Jackson Hole is an ideal destination for wintersport of al kinds.
